Synopsis

Nathalie Alavarez Mesen's mystical and beguiling debut feature tells the story of Clara, a woman believed to possess divine healing powers by the people of her remote Costa Rican village. Under the repressive care of her elderly mother, Clara seeks solace in the natural world until the delicate order of her life is upended by the arrival of her niece's handsome boyfriend, who stirs in Clara a powerful sexual awakening.

This desire unleashes an unstoppable force, leading Clara to an unexplored world of discovery and self-determination. Featuring an extraordinary lead performance by Wendy Chinchilla Araya and stunning cinematography, this intimate and richly atmospheric drama premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and has won multiple international film awards, including 5 Guldbagge awards, the Swedish 'Oscars'.
